How to Set Up cPanel Email on iPhone & iPad (IMAP SSL)
This guide explains how to manually configure cPanel email on iOS 18 and older versions using secure IMAP SSL/TLS settings.
1. Account Setup Details
Before beginning, ensure you have your full email address and password ready. Using IMAP is recommended for syncing mail across multiple devices.
2. Step-by-Step iOS Mail Setup
Navigate to Account Settings
Go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts. Tap Add Account, select Other, and then Add Mail Account.
Enter Server Information
Fill in your account details. On the next screen, ensure IMAP is selected at the top. Enter the following for both Incoming and Outgoing servers:
- Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com (Replace with your domain)
- User Name: Your full email address
- Password: Your email password. This is not optional for your outgoing server.
Confirm SSL Ports (Critical)
If the automatic verification fails or you cannot send mail, verify these advanced settings:
| Connection Type | Port Number | SSL Status |
|---|---|---|
| Incoming (IMAP) | 993 | Enabled (SSL/TLS) |
| Outgoing (SMTP) | 465 | Enabled (SSL/TLS) |
Troubleshooting: "Cannot Verify Server Identity"
If you see a "Cannot Verify Server Identity" error on your iPhone, it usually means the SSL certificate is assigned to the server hostname rather than your domain. Ensure your Host Name is set to mail.yourdomain.com and tap Details > Trust if prompted.
Common Fix: Always ensure the "User Name" and "Password" fields under the Outgoing Mail Server section are filled in, even though iOS labels them as "Optional."
